The artist has handed over the entirety of his twenty-five thousand pound Mercury Prize prize money to the MVT, which works to save the United Kingdom's independent concert spaces.
The star was presented with the award on October 16 as his new release his work was chosen as the best record of the last 12 months.
Fender has chosen to give the cash to the Music Venues Trust, in appreciation of the essential function small stages played in his beginning days.
"As an artist would not have achieved this success if it hadn't been for all the shows I played around the area, and further afield, when I was just getting going," stated Fender. "These spaces are legendary, but they are facing challenges."
Beginning in 2023, over 150 of these spaces have permanently closed – roughly one-sixth of the total UK scene.
In the last year, well-known musicians like the band Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the trust in its attempts to help venues survive, by applying a small levy to their ticket costs, which supports local stages.
Sam Fender also took part, generating more than £100,000 on his live tour to assist thirty-eight local spots across the UK.
The donation helped venues that were dealing with potential shutdown due to issues caused by water damage, fire incidents and bereavements, as well as regulatory hurdles, conflicts and neighbor objections.
Other venues received financial assistance in modernizing infrastructure and gear that directly benefitted artists and audiences.
"The concept that funds from shows in big venues backs the local stages, where it kicks off for performers like me, is just logical," Sam Fender has stated.
The musician is far from the only musician to contribute his Mercury Prize winnings to good deeds.
Back when Pulp earned the prize in the year 1996 for their release Different Class, lead singer Cocker declared that the band would donate their winnings to the organization the charity.
In 2002, musician she split her prize between several charities, including the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.
"And I gave a £1,000 to my local community centre, to their gymnastics class, because I practiced gymnastics when I was a child and they lacked updated gear," Ms Dynamite explained to outlets.
Previously, Ezra Collective contributed their funds to the youth organization that nurtured their act, as well as other grassroots music organisations.
And winners that year M People donated their winnings to a multiple sclerosis charity after a close contact was diagnosed the condition.
"The victory was sufficient," remarked singer the singer. "The prize was the extra but we didn't require the bonus, because we had the main prize. So our victory touched somebody else's life."
In the past week, the MVT shared it had protected a couple of local spots in the South East, by placing them under public stewardship.
The first in that area and the second in Bristol were acquired under the community ownership program, which is supported by Arts Council England and music fans who acquire "ownership units" in the properties.
